When propane is injected into a turbo charged diesel engine there is a tremendous increase in power and torque!
Power isn’t the only benefit as you’ll also gain travel range in your rig with the addition of clean burning propane. The advanced controls and design of the Superchips DPI system will safely produce up to 75 more horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels! So, how is this power made? Each cylinder of a diesel engine always draws in the maximum amount of air on the intake stroke. Engine speed is determined by controlling the amount of diesel fuel that is injected into the cylinder. At lower engine speeds, a small amount of fuel is added to the air in the cylinder, while at higher speeds, more fuel is added to the same amount of air resulting in an increased combustion event to produce more power.
Note that the same amount of air is present in the cylinder. It’s the diesel fuel that varies to determine engine speed. Whatever air that does not get burned in the combustion process is simply pushed out on the exhaust stroke. This is where the Superchips DPI system comes in to play.
